Stopped in for lunch yesterday, great servers, very clean restaurant. Fast service and the quality of food was great. Can't wait to return.

I've lived in the southwest for years this is the closest to authentic I have had here. Speedy service really good food and reasonable prices

La Cabana opened in February 2017 in the building that once housed the Countryside Family Diner. Along with a change in cuisine (Mexican) came a full interior face-lift.
The facility appears to hold about 75 people. Seating is in handsomely carved booths or at tables with chairs brightly painted with Myan-ish scenes.
After being seated the obligatory chips and salsa were delivered. The tortilla chips were uninspired but the salsa was some of the best I've ever had. The dip had the perfect heat level, not so hot as to offend but snappy enough to linger on the tongue. Chunks of onion, tomato and cilantro could be scooped up and enjoyed.
The menu was pretty comprehensive and we soon settled on our meals.
My SO had the combination beef and chicken fajitas for one ($12.99 including re fried beans, Spanish rice, a small lettuce salad topped with pico de gallo and three flour tortillas). I had the combination plate ($8.99) which had one burrito, one tamale, and one other item (the name of which I have forgotten). Oddly, my meal did not include any sides so I ordered a serving of Spanish rice ($2.50). We each had a fountain drink ($1.99 each). Our total tab was $30.82.
The meals were quickly served (hers on a sizzling cast iron plate and mine on a molten lava hot china platter).
Her fajitas (almost enough for two meals) were well seasoned and tasty. My combo plate suffered from ground beef syndrome. Don't get me wrong, the meat filling was very good, it's just a thing of mine that I expect more than hamburger meat at a sit-down restaurant.
While the main entrees were good, I thought the sides could have used a little more thought. Both the re fried beans and the Spanish rice dishes were somewhat bland. Not enough to put me off mind you, but they just could have been better (in my opinion).
Now for the big questions would I come back - definitely, and did I think the meal was a super value - yes it was well worth the money but not overly so.
Another bright spot was the waitstaff. Several of them stopped by during our meal to ask if we needed anything or wanted drink refills. Lots of cheery faces goes a long way in this neck of the woods. -

Happy to see some culinary diversity in my hometown! We ordered takeout (chicken enchiladas suizas and chicken burrito dinner), which we enjoyed. They provided homemade salsa and chips with the meals, and the salsa was very fresh! My friend's burrito had a slightly salty flavor, but otherwise the food was all very good. Generous portions as well. Next time, we'll dine in the restaurant to try some new items and maybe a margarita!
